Introduction

The Crypto Trade Calculator stands as the premier risk management tool available online, meticulously crafted to aid cryptocurrency traders in making well-informed decisions. It calculates single or multiple entry points, order size, stop-loss (SL), and (multiple) take-profit (TP) levels based on your account balance, risk tolerance, and trading strategy.

Risk Allocation

  • Open the Calculator: Visit the webpage hosting the Crypto Trade Calculator.
  • Input Account Details: Enter your Account Balance in USD and specify the Risk per Trade as a percentage of your account balance, else if you know the risk value you can enter that and the percentage will be calculated for you. Some examples of risk (%) per trade shown below. This is for reference only, only you can decide what your risk tolerance should be.
    • Low Risk: 0.5% > 2%
    • Medium Risk: 2% > 5%
    • High Risk: 5%+

Symbol Selection (Optional)

  • Our advanced calculator allows you to connect to a variety of exchanges to get the live price of a symbol, although this step is optional, it can save you a bit of time.
    • Select Exchange: If you would like to fetch the current price of a symbol (from a supported Exchange), select an Exchange to popualate the Symbol options.
    • Select Symbol: When you start typing the symbol for the asset you would like to fetch, the dropdown list will filter the matching symbols, you can then select the one you are interested in.

Trade Setup

  • Select Order Side: Choose between going long or short in the market.
  • Choose Entry Type: Select 'Single' for one entry order or 'Multiple' for multiple entry orders to dollar cost average your entry.
  • Specify Entry Sizing: Select 'Fixed' for equal USD value orders, or 'Incremental' for orders with incrementally higher USD values, explanations below.
    • Fixed Orders: All entry orders have the same USD value. This method maintains a consistent USD order size regardless of the entry price.
    • Incremental Orders: Entry orders are placed with increasing USD values, e.g., if the first order is $100, the next might be $200, followed by $300, etc. This method allows for smaller initial risk and larger orders as the price moves against the initial order.
  • Set Entry Orders: For 'Single' entry, specify the price. For 'Multiple' entries, input prices for the first and last order, the middle orders will be automatically generated at equal intervals, which you can then modify as you like. Each entry order is divided in equal parts, e.g. you have $1000 and want to place 4 orders, each order will be $250.
  • Define Stop Loss and Take Profit: Set a 'Stop Loss Price' and optionally choose the number of 'Take Profit Orders' you would like to place.
  • Calculate Trade: Click the 'Calculate' button to view results.

Viewing Results

The results section displays detailed calculations including total trade size in USD, amount of lots, potential loss at stop loss, individual and total take profit amounts in USD, and the total risk/reward ratio. This secion also includes a table called 'Orders to Place' where it breaks down teh details for each order you need to place.

Due Diligence

  • Validate and cross-check the calculator's outputs with your trading strategy. Use the calculator as a guide, not as the sole decision-making tool.
  • This tool is not financial advice, it is for educational purposes only.
